Do they have to ride the large naval ships of the Fire Nation to get across, or do they have access via beautiful steampunk-inspired ships...?

1. Welcome, Avatar — You are the Avatar. Enjoy learning all four kinds of bending! And, perhaps, the secret fifth one.
2. Cactus Juice — Thirsty in the Si Wong Desert, or wherever you happen to be? Not a problem, open up a cactus and enjoy the juice, or buy it from the establishment nearby. It's trippy.
3. Fight Fight Fight! — You're challenged to a duel, or an Agni Kai — save your honor! Or disrupt it, whatever sets you on fire.
4. Pro-bending — We hope you know the rules. If you're the Avatar, please stick to one element or you're disqualified. Don't you want to win?
5. Chi-blocked — Suddenly, your bending abilities were taken away! Or were you the one that blocked their skills?
6. There is no war in Ba Sing Se — Get ready to escape Lake Laogai, if you can, or are you there to save someone?
7. Underground Library — The Knowledge Spirit has allowed you to read.
8. I'm ready, Sifu — Are you a bender, a humble fighter, or a beginner? Either way, your training starts now! Impress your masters, have fun with your classmates.
9. Is that a Polar bear-dog? — One animal plus one animal makes a crazy combination! Ready to ride a sky bison, or are you ready to run from a pack of armadillo lions?
10. The Cave of Two Lovers — Were you bothered by a band of hippies, and ended up here? Good luck finding your way out. Maybe the riddle they told you would be useful right now. ("Love is brightest in the dark.")
11. Cart riding in Omashu — Using the delivery system as your personal slide. Don't crash into too many houses, now.
12. Kyoshi Island — Want to ride the large Elephant Koi, or the Unagi? Or are you exploring, or a protector of the Island?
13. Wildcard — Lost in a swamp, losing yourself in the Avatar state, or did you drink the wrong tea? The choice is yours!

[Kain doesn't want to be here, and doesn't belong. That much is obvious when he hears Tenzin talk about airbending in those extremely boring lectures. True, Kain has always felt a connection to the wind, even though he grew up as the unfortunate non-bender in a strongly firebending family. Learning he could bend at all was a miracle for him. But this place, the philosophy of the Air Nomads... it's not for him.]

[Sulking and scowling, Kain is just wandering aimlessly when he ends up where the baby sky bison are hanging out...]

[Mjrn is already a willing pillow for one of the sleepy baby sky bison, who's rolled over on its back for belly rubs. Hearing footsteps, she smiles as another baby bison waddles over to the newcomer.]

Hello. You wished to see them as well?

[Kain looks uncertainly at the bison, but it's being so cute toward him and not even he can resist that. Giving in, he reaches out to pet it.]

I suppose I did... Mainly, I needed a break from... everything else.

[Mjrn watches the bitty bison close its eyes and rumble happily, clearly enjoying the attention.]

You mean the long tales and obstacle course? That was...rigorous.

[She sighs, still aching from that.]

I would prefer lessons on sky bison and their care. They are the original airbenders, after all.

[And so cute. She gives her companion an extra belly rub.]

I would prefer learning some proper combat techniques.

[When he's not at a proper training session, as right now, Kain returns to wearing his Fire Nation clothing. He can't help it, he was raised in a culture that has a strong history of war and violence. All of this lecture and going through that course, seem pointless.]

The bison seem to make for good company though...

[Mjrn has remained in airbender robes for now, finding them comfortable. She isn't so sure about the tattoos or head shaving, though at least Tenzin hasn't pushed for that. Quiet for a moment, she continues stroking her baby as the other nudges Kain for more pettings.]

That one seems to enjoy your company. I was told that should you bond with one, you will have a friend for life.

[Well... ok, a little more petting, he supposes. He can't help but already feel fond of the sky bison.]

It would be an honor, although I'm not certain I'd be worthy of it... I still don't feel like a true airbender,

[He'd been raised in such a traditional Fire Nation family.]

[Mjrn nods, understanding that sentiment.]

I don't suppose any of us do, except Tenzin and his family. They've spent their lives under such traditions, not us. I was born and raised in the Earth Kingdom, and unlike my sisters, I never displayed any bending talent. I never thought I would, until...well, you know.

Nor did I.

[And what he'd rather not discuss is that he grew up with a lot of issues because of that. He always felt so inferior, such a need to prove himself. Sigh. Now, here he is amid a culture he doesn't understand using an element which... feels more like him in a way, and yet its people really aren't like him.]

I don't know about you... but I've always planned to return to my home once I've gained better mastery of this bending.

[She's silent for a moment, using baby sky bison belly rubs as an excuse to collect her thoughts.]

I don't know. It was very difficult to leave the Earth Kingdom and my family behind. I long for our forest village. And yet, instead of following the path of my sisters, I have the chance to do something unique and important.

[She tilts her head, glancing up to him.]

It is nice to be among people who understand that, isn't it?

Being among those who understand what it is to grow up ignored and cast aside as nothing? ...I suppose...

[Well, that was what it was like for him, anyway, as he was the family disgrace with no bending for all that time. He continues to pet the bison near him.]

[Mjrn smiles as the bison seems happy with Kain's attention, taking the cue from her nudging one to resume the petting.]

I was overshadowed, though I don't believe they meant to ignore me. But it's still the same in the end, I suppose.

...I wonder, what would our lives have been like, if the portals had been open all this time. We would have been airbenders all our lives, wouldn't we?

[Ok, ok, fine, he really does have a soft spot for these creatures. He'd not expected it to happen, but here it is. Kain continues the petting, even looking happy for a brief moment, before he returns to his typical serious demeanor.]

We surely would have. Perhaps our lives would then have been different.

[He knows he would have been more respected. Probably not quite as much as the firebender his father truly wanted him to be, but still... some bending is better than none.]
