[There's a short delay between replies as Yusuke boards the train to head back to his dorm, but the response comes soon enough.]

Yes, and I wouldn't wish to distract you from your own studies either. This is a crucial year for you, after all.

[Makoto would probably kill Yusuke if she got wind he went to visit when Akira has college entrance exams to think about.]

A celebration would be excellent. You can give me a tour of your hometown, too.
Will it be just the two of us, or have you extended the invitation to the others, as well?

[Makoto would probably kill them all if they tried to pull any of those stunts.]

You wouldn't distract me at all. Aside from random part-time work, there's not much to do here.

Touring my hometown is part of the celebration. It is a 4-day celebration!

[Morgana just saw that part and gave Akira a side-eye.]

I'll show you a place where I fell in the river when I was a kid.

That sounds amusing. I hope the incident wasn't too serious.

[When he fell in the river, that is. Yusuke's guessing that it wasn't, if he's treating it like a tourist attraction now.]

You can introduce me to your parents, as well. [Which he hopes is a good thing? Yusuke hasn't heard anything about them good or bad, only that they're friends of Sojiro's, so...]

Nothing serious. I just got wet and scrapped my knee.

[Well it is interesting to him because he can't remember how he ended up falling in. Did he slip or trip?

Ah, it was the rock. He tried throwing in rock twice his weight and it made him stumble forward.]

My parents will be home on 3rd, but they leave on 4th and come back on 6th. They have this whole trip planned out. So we will have the place all to ourselves.

[They can eat all the junk food and complain about art.]

And about the others, I forgot to mention earlier, I did invite them but Ryuji is out of town with his mom, Ann is going to the beach with Shiho and Haru and Makoto are too busy with their post-third year schedule

[Yes, he did remember to invite the others but seeing that he remembered to plan to get together in last second, most of them are busy.]

Ah, then if they are going away, I will not have to worry about imposing too much upon them.
Still, I'll have to pick out a suitable gift to thank them for allowing me to stay with you.

[Hopefully he doesn't just burn all his cash on sweets again and leave himself no money for the actual travel expenses to get there, smh]

So it will be all right if I arrive on the 3rd? I'll be travelling by train, so I can meet you at the station.
It's a pity about the others, but it will be enjoyable just to spend time with the three of us, as well.

[The group all together do tend to get pretty rowdy, and he's not even sure all of them would fit into Akira's house. Better save the big meetups for summer.]

[Aside from hunting down aesthetics for Yusuke's paintings. Somehow, all those things he could do by himself but that's not fun at all.]

The 3rd is perfect if you want to meet my parents. And don't think too much about the gift. If you really want to give them something, a painting of nature is more than enough

Morgana says 'hi' and is too proud to admit that he misses you all

Actually, you've given me a wonderful idea for a gift, Akira. I'll explain everything once I arrive.

[The meaning of Yusuke's message becomes clear when the 3rd rolls around, and he leaves Tokyo. When he steps off the train, he has luggage in tow for the week containing his clothes and travel essentials... along with what look like multiple blank canvases, as well as another bag over his shoulder, filled with as many art supplies as he can carry. Yusuke never does anything in half measures.

He looks around the platform, hoping to spot a familiar mop of black hair in amongst the other passengers embarking and disembarking.]

[Akira didn't expect anything less. Morgana, perched on his shoulder, as usual, made a comment about Yusuke being so extra when it came to art, but Akira found that endearing. It's so nice to see someone so passionate about something. At times, Akira wished he had some kind of hobby to be passionate about.

Batting cages don't count. Those were only for practice. ~~and he kind of cheated with the third eye...~~

The train platform is small so Akira spots his friend in an instant, jogging up the stairs.]

Yusuke! Over here.

Akira! [Yusuke looks around and, as soon as he spots him, goes to meet him as quickly as he can, for someone dragging half of an artist's studio in tow.] You're looking well.

[Maybe it's getting out of the city, maybe it's no longer having the constant stress of being a Phantom Thief on his shoulders... or maybe it's something as simple as having a more complex diet than coffee and curry every day. Regardless, Akira looks good, he thinks.]

I trust you've been keeping him out of trouble. [That part is addressed to Morgana, Yusuke looking to the feline perched on his shoulder.]

[Did Yusuke get taller or is it just him? It can't be, right? They separated only a few months ago. Shaking his head, Akira smiles.]

You look good as well. [Akira himself tried to cheat in his diet but Morgana always kept warning him. So yes- he was a very good boy. Stayed out of trouble and everything.]

Of course, [Morgana answers with a proud swish of tail. Akira nudges his cheek and shakes his head.]

There's nothing going on here so there's no trouble to fall into. [Tilting his head, he checks out the suitcase.] ...you brought a lot of stuff with you. [He... did mention to Yusuke that they will spend a lot of time outside, right?]

[It's possible he got taller, though Yusuke himself hasn't noticed. Perhaps he'll just get taller and taller without putting on any weight at all, so he'll look like someone has stretched him out into even more of a beanpole in a few months' time.

When Akira points out how much he brought, Yusuke just smiles, shifting the weight of the bag on his shoulder.]

Yes, that's right. I thought that because I do not often have the opportunity to get away from the city and into the country, I would harness this opportunity to derive as much inspiration from nature as possible. And because I do not know what kind of piece I want to compose yet, I thought I would bring a selection of materials with which to paint.

[And a sketchbook or two, and his brushes, and some paints, and pencils, and...]

Hmm... I planned for us to spend a lot of time outside. There's nothing that interesting at home. [They can watch TV whenever.] There is Riverside, picknick spot in the mountains with huge firepit and places for tents [if they decide to camp out] and tour bus going to the nearby beach every morning.

[...it's not normal that he's this much excited about this holiday. It makes him talk more than usual. Even Morgana is giving him a look.]

Do you need help with your stuff?

That sounds wonderful. I'll leave it to you to be my guide.

[Yusuke's actually enjoying Akira's enthusiasm. Normally it was Yusuke dragging Akira around to random places, yet this time Akira already seems to be bursting with ideas. Really, Yusuke would have been happy even if there was little to do but hang out with Akira -- spending time with him made any kind of scenery worthwhile, even a dusty attic in a cafe.]

Ah, I should be fine. [He has the highest strength stat in the party, he can carry this!! He... might just be a little slower than usual with all this stuff to cart with him.] Are we walking to your house?

[Akira... changed. For the better or the worse. It's not like he was completely unenthusiastic back in Tokyo, he was. The only problem was expressing it properly. Everyone that looked at him saw 'criminal record' first and then boy with shaggy hair and glasses.

He needed some time to get comfortable in saying what he wants. And Yusuke helped out with that immensely. Seeing him go after what he desires and making the best of it helped out Akira's own inner voice. Thinking about that makes him smile.]

Ah, yes. It is a bit of a walk, around fifteen minutes. We could try finding a taxi if your suitcase is too heavy.

[Yusuke's eyes go round, like he couldn't even fathom the expense of taking a taxi.]

What a luxurious suggestion...! But it would be far cheaper to simply walk. I assure you I can handle it.

[Yusuke is the kind of person to get off a train a stop early even to save a tiny amount of money, so ever taking a taxi anywhere would be the equivalent of charting a private jet. He'd rather just power through the inconvenience.]

Shall we be off?

[Akira would pay taxi fee, no problem. He has money on him, a lot actually. With nothing he needs to spend his money on, like weapons or medicine, he has some nice savings.]

Well, if you're sure, let's go. Oh, we need to stop by tofu shop to buy some. My mom needs some for dinner.

[He nudges Morgana with his shoulder to go back in the bag, and once he does and only his whiskers are peeking out, they head out of the station.]

How was the trip?

All right, that's no problem.

[Side trips are A-okay if it means Akira's parents are cooking for them... Yusuke's stomach is already starting to growl in anticipation. He follows along after him, hoisting his bag over his shoulder.]

The trip was very enjoyable. I managed to get a window seat in the train, so I could enjoy the scenery at my leisure. Besides which, trains agree with me far more than cars.

[Because of his motion sickness, he means. Sorry, Morgana.]

[The shop is on their way back so it won't be a big detour. Just a bit of waiting until he gets what he needs. Akira briefly wonders if Yusuke likes ganmodoki. Maybe he should buy some. For late-night snacks.]

That's good. The scenery is really nice on the way here. I usually doze off if train ride is long. [All that rocking puts him to sleep.

Morgana pops out of his bag to, of course, offer a complaint on the comment.]

You are just jealous that my skills are special!

[Really, it's better to ask Yusuke if there's a food he doesn't like. He'll eat just about anything and enjoy it, simply because it's food.]

I typically don't sleep on trains or other public transport, in case there is anything on the journey that catches my interest. But I did sleep on the diverted flight to Hawaii last summer... There's only so much artistic inspiration one can garner from aboard a plane, I suppose.

[Most of the view on the flight was just clouds because of the storms, anyway. Curse his own sucky luck when it comes to weather!!

Morgana's complaint, meanwhile, just earns an amused snort from Yusuke.]

While I agree you're special, I'm not jealous of that particular skill. If I turned into a car, how would I draw? [#priorities]

[Akira guessed that, considering a number of times Yusuke went with eating the tons of not very successfully prepared curry. And coffee.]

I sometimes take a picture of scenery, but I'm not quite on your level to get inspired from it. [And that's why he's going to take Yusuke to all these amazing places. Hopefully, he can stir him away from sketching at some points.

Morgana grumbles something along 'set your priorities straight' line and goes back in the bag. Akira scratches back of his head, nudging the bag.]

Hey now, you know how useful his drawings were for us. Don't act like you forgot.

[They arrive in front of tofu shop and Akira pauses-] Can you wait for me here for a minute? I will be right back.

[Yusuke just chuckles at the cat as he disappears. Typical Morgana, always with something to prove. Some things never change.

As they stop outside the tofu shop, Yusuke nods, setting down his bags.]

Not a problem. I'll stay here.

[He looks around at the scenery of the town, forming a frame with his fingers. Even en route from the station, he's ready to start contemplating potential sources for a drawing. For someone who spent most of their life in Tokyo, anything different is a novelty.]

[Akira does short work of buying tofu. The owner of the shop knows him so it goes fast since he knows what type his mother buys the most. They exchange a few words when Akira's eyes fall on the special treat of the shop.

With plastic bag in one hand and three paper bags on other, Akira comes out of the shop.]

Here. Ganmodoki. A small snack since dinner will be in few hours.

[When Yusuke takes his bag with food (two pieces of ganmo), he drops one of them in his bag for Morgana (who thanks him).]

This shop sells the best ones. They are still warm.

[Yusuke looks around when Akira returns, and his eyes practically light up when Akira hands him the ganmodoki. Like usual, he hadn't realised just how hungry he was until now, and especially after that long journey, the food is a godsend.]

Ah, thank you...! They smell delicious. [He takes a bite, and closes his eyes as he's transported to food nirvana.] The taste is equally exquisite...
