[With the date for their Mark of Mastery exam fast approaching, Aqua and Terra have been immersed in their studies, Terra spending his time exercising and pushing his body to its limits to become stronger, Aqua in the library, reading extensive tomes about magic. That means they haven't spent much time together as he'd like, and despite his nerves, he misses being able to just spend time with his friends.

So he goes into the enormous library, finding the lone figure of Aqua and sitting opposite her.]

Hey. Are the studies going well?

[Despite the library always being empty besides the two of them, he keeps his voice down. Master Eraqus, being a man of rules and tradition as he is, is always very strict on that point.]

[ It isn't just her studies that are keeping her away from her friends, but someone has also been secretly working on making good luck charms in her spare time. Sometimes she can be such a girl. ]

Terra.

[ She quietly closes one of the books she had been reading, leaving a small bookmark in place so she knows where she left off for later. Right now, she would like to focus on her friend whom she hasn't had time to sit with and relax. Even if it's for a brief moment before they eventually return to their extensive studies, she welcomes the break with a warm smile. ]

Yes, thank you. But when I think about the other libraries in all the different worlds... it makes me feel like I haven't read enough. We still have so much to learn, even when we become Masters.

[earthshaken]

[Terra gives a soft laugh.] Aqua, if the Master expected us to know everything about every world, we'd never past the test. We can gain knowledge from other worlds when we get to them, right?

[Even Eraqus and Xehanort still don't know everything about each world, he's sure, even with their incredible amount of wisdom and experience.]

You're right. [ There is a steady, faraway look in her eyes as she echoes his faint laugh, as if she's looking forward to that day. ] I just mean our training won't end after the exam.

How do you feel about it?

[earthshaken]

I've never been more ready. We can both do this.

[He tries to say it with as much confidence as possible, hands curling into determined fists. Still, it's not a completely honest answer. He knows both of them are capable of it, but his insecurities still bother him. What if his best isn't enough? What if Aqua defeats him? Eraqus would be so disappointed if he failed... and those fears push him to become stronger than ever.]

I have the utmost faith that you will make Master Eraqus proud, Terra. I know Ven believes in you, too.

[ Aqua, of course, doesn't know if her best will be good enough either, but she trusts in the Master's judgment - win, lose or draw. ]

He will be there, you know. To watch us.

[earthshaken]

Even Master Xehanort will be there. No pressure, right? [He smiles sheepishly.]

We have to try our best for Ven's sake. Then he can count on us while he trains to be a Master, too.

[Not that he hasn't counted on them plenty already. But Terra feels like he'd be that much more of a support to Ven if he could become a Master.]

Only two incredible Masters and a boy who looks up to us. No big deal. [ She jokes, obviously, it's the biggest deal of all deals. ]

He already counts on you like a little brother, you know. That will never change.

[earthshaken]

Which is why I have to keep becoming stronger. And I know he really looks up to you, too.

[He glances over his shoulder. Eraqus will probably chew them out if they keep hanging out here and talking...]

Want to go for a walk? Some fresh air will clear your head before you hit the books again.

[ She wants to tell him that she thinks he's already very strong, but it would be hypocritical with how much she's been pushing herself with her own studies. Instead she just sighs in exhaustion, realizing how hard they both must have been working. ]

Have I really been in here that long?

[ If she hasn't kept track of the time then it's definitely time to clear their heads, she thinks. ]

You mean you didn't notice? Me and Ven haven't seen you since breakfast.

[He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.]

...It's late afternoon now.

[He realises he might have just as easily lost track of time too, were it not for the fact he was training outdoors. The sooner the exam gets, the more it feels like they shouldn't be wasting any of their time, but even Masters-in-training need downtime.]

Since...? [ Did he say breakfast?

Aqua stands up immediately, but still in a quiet and respectful manner. Following library rules even though they're the only ones in it isn't weird at all. Forgetting the time, however, that's quite undignified, she thinks. ]

I-I was just about to take a break, actually. [ No, she wasn't. Please don't tease her...! ]

[earthshaken]

Hey, it happens to all of us.

[Except it really doesn't. He doesn't tease her beyond that, though, getting up and turning to head out of the library.]

Ven's with the Master at the moment, but maybe he'll catch up with us later.
