[The move is so obvious Vergil simply parries it again, knocking the axe head away.]

Charging in again and again will get you nowhere. [Vergil's counterattack comes not from him, but a translucent blue doppelganger in the shape of a demon, which attempts to blindside Dante with a swift set of slices at blistering speed.]

[Like there's a shred of thought in his mind a head-on flaming axe would be subtle. He wants him to focus on it!]

Don't knock it until you try it, grandpa.

[Blue?! Dante's attention snaps to the side and that first slice cleaves right through the shoulder of his coat. The rest slam into a pair of metal-lined flesh-like gauntlets as Dante goes fisticuffs with the demonic Eryx like a boxer, blocking and swiping at the cuts. So long as he can keep most of them from landing anything too deep, the shaved off slices heal up fast enough.
