Silence is what got us into this mess. Festering resentment that could have abated in a few honest conversations. When I was dying, being completely honest with Nero about wanting to be protected felt like lifting the weight of the world off my shoulders. It's a blow to the pride, but for all the weight the both of you have carried, some catharsis might be worth it.

Besides -- since when are you the type to do things the simple way?

Talking with Dante is far more difficult. You should understand that well enough.

It's merely a suggestion. I just don't want you to get so caught up in the moment that you forget the important things I learned.

Of course I'm not saying you should sit him down for a therapy session. As ideal as that would be, I know getting a straight answer out of him is a fool's errand at best. Just remember that silence is an enemy that's taken too much from you already. Moments of sincerity here and there will add up eventually.

Consider it training. You'll need your ability to talk sincerely the next time you meet Nero.

I haven't forgotten. Going with Dante to seal the underworld and undo some of the damage I caused is part of that.

As to the rest... We shall see. We intend to honour Nero's wishes and not destroy one another, so that is a start.

[V's influence and finding out he has a son have both motivated him to be a better person, go figure.]
