I am not. [ maybe he's confused? Then again, even people living outside the palace in Kei might not have seen a kirin in their lifetime. This isn't that surprising. He steps back to consider further. ]

[Connor tilts his head, trying to make sense of that.]

What, then? I have never seen anything like you before.

[Wow Keiki you run fast, Taiki had no idea why or how he had been torn from the palace and ended up here but he had seen the familliar form of Keiki running off in the distance so he had ran after him.

Unfortunately he was too late to tell him that people here; in a place that seemed very much like Hourai even if strange at the same time, probably shouldn't be spoken to in kirin form. But too late now and that man is armed... he looks really scary but Taiki can't just leave Keiki] Um... [If a kirin can look nervous this one manages it] Sorry... he's a kirin... um... we won't hurt you though...

Taiki! [ No wow you're not meant to be here. Just how badly did he mispronounce the incantations, anyway? He steps closer to Connor primarily to place himself between him and the smaller kirin. ]

[Noticing the larger creature's unease, Connor backs off a little to put space between them. That doesn't stop him trying to peer around to get a better look at the new arrival, though.]

Um... [A glance at Keiki, but he knows that Keiki won't explain anything, Keiki's not very good at explaining things unless the person understands Keiki well] Um... we are sent by the gods to chose the king... and then serve him but not in this world we come from somewhere else...

[That makes a little more sense, at least, though Connor is beginning to wonder if this is another dream or not...]

No... um... I don't know. [Looking at Keiki again, do they?] We come from the Twelve Kingdoms.

[ nope Keiki is done with this. Injured and 100% done with explaining basic concepts of the universe.

[Connor's pretty sure there are at least twelve kingdoms across the sea, but he couldn't name them or guess if they have kirins. While he ponders that, he watches Keiki with some concern.]

Is he all right? He looks tired.

[Taiki also looked worried about Keiki and a moment later there was a gust of wind and instead of a black kirin beast there was a small boy, a small naked boy but he doesn't seem too worried about that as he rushes over to Keiki.] Are you hurt? [He doesn't smell of blood but he could be hurt in other ways, Taiki got out lightly it seemed, a few bruises and a general feeling of exhaustion.]

It is nothing to concern yourselves about. [ just go on talking, that's fine-- hold on. ] Taiki, what are you doing?

[Lucky for Taiki that Connor has none of the colonial hang-ups about nudity, although he is shocked for entirely different reasons.]

How did you...? [...Actually, after the encounter with Juno he should really have learned to stop asking these questions. He probably won't get a straight answer anyway.]

You're hurt. [His voice is stubborn as he starts inspecting Keiki for injuries, hands are better for this even if Keiki would probably disagree.

He blinked back at the man and shuffled his feet] Um sorry... we can change forms... Keiki's hurt, can you help us? [This man seemed nice, despite the weapons he had on him and the vague smell of blood; and he wasn't running away or being scared of them so that was a start.]
