[ had it been anyone but Byleth his response may have been received poorly, but as it was she merely gave a non-committal grunt in reply, helping him rest against the now closed cabinet doors with a surprising gentleness before stepping away; returning moments later to offer the esteemed house leader a glass of water. ]

[ she crouches now so that the two are eye level. ]

What did you eat yesterday before you started drinking?

Thanks. [He means it, accepting the glass and gingerly taking a sip. At least he doesn't have the shakes.]

M'sure I had dinner, though I don't remember what. Uh... Stuff.

[ the gratitude is met with a simple nod, brow once more furrowing at his vague answer. she's seen enough drunken stupors traveling with mercenaries to know that it's always worse when done on an empty stomach. after a moment of silent observation she's standing again, placing a hand upon his head. ]

[ while Byleth did not consider herself a particularly talented cook, eggs were familiar and simple enough to prepare. ]

[He leans into her touch, though it's not immediately obvious whether it's an unconscious movement or deliberate. Who knows, maybe he's an affectionate drunk.]

Can do. [He'll just sip the rest of the water while he waits. He at least has enough sense that he'd like to clear his head a bit, now Byleth is around.]

[ right. time to put Dedue's cooking lessons to good use — or rather, just remember the differences she's learned between cooking over a campfire versus cooking on a stove.

the plate he's presented with is nothing to write home about, but it's edible at least. which, really, is all one truly needs food to be. she opts to sit near him instead of crouching this time, offering him the meal and a utensil to eat it with. ]

Eat this, then you can go to bed.

[ if he's lucky enough he can get a few hours of sleep in before she drags him to class. ]
