Raven
Tales of Vesperia
TAGGING PRIORITY: ■■■■□
He's my only character, and fun enough that I don't mind only having one in my roster! This would get full marks, except life blew up in my face a few weeks ago, so I did have to drop a few threads towards the end of June. Otherwise, though, I've been keeping up with things well.
MUSE STRENGTH: ■■■■■
He's effortless to write. Even though I'm still very new to the canon compared to older fans, replaying the game with a friend is helping me feel like I have his voice nailed, as well as helping me to mentally iron out his complicated involvement in the game plot.
CAST STRENGTH: ■■■□□
Raven has Yuri, Flynn and Repede around, which is fun. He'd work just as well as a lone canon warrior, but at least with castmates, he has people around to hold him accountable and stop him slipping into bad habits. That came into play pretty quickly with the character death thing, and Raven having to immediately throw himself at Yuri's mercy for having the nerve to roll over and die again!! Oops. Having the rest of Brave Vesperia around would be great too, particularly Karol, since he's at a late canon point where their father-son relationship has really become a thing.
PLOTTING CAPABILITIES: ■■■■■
His role in canon means he's used to seeing the big picture, knowing everyone, and being involved in everything behind the scenes, so thinking of things for him to do isn't difficult. I'm glad I changed my mind and threw him in at the deep end in joining the Interlude, because he has a lot of established CR and a more vested interest in the game plot now, too. Beyond that, he'll be proactively working to build up connections.
SHIPPING POTENTIAL: ■□□□□
In a shocking turn of events: little to none. Raven's a flirt and a womaniser, and popular with the ladies in canon, but also a callous asshole to any who gets too close to him beyond casual sex. Seriously. He did have a joking "relationship" with Jibril while she was around, but they were really just using each other for mutual gain. Maybe once he's learned a little better how to start living life for himself again, he can consider a relationship, with all the messy emotional commitment that entails. Until then, at least he has Mabel for relationship guidance!
GENERAL FUN LEVEL: ■■■■■
Raven was way outside my comfort zone in terms of character type when I took him on, at least as far as playing a goofy comic relief character goes, but I'm glad I did. He's often very silly, which makes a lot of his threads fun to write, and also naturally charismatic, so he draws all kinds of CR to him in ways I haven't had with previous characters. tl;dr he's a stupid fun asshole and I hate it
LIKELIHOOD OF DROP: □□□□□
Very unlikely. I'll be going back to university in September to start my master's degree, but I can't see it affecting roleplay too much beyond the initial adjustment period.
