Shiver me timbers! Here be a pirate meme!

Decide on your roles and play!
Threads of more than two are welcome and encouraged.

1.  Boarded:  Your ship has been boarded, and as captain you've been captured!  Better hope the other captain gives quarter.  Alternatively, it's a nice warm day for a swim.  That plank was made for walking.

2.  Victory:  You've captured another ship!  You knew those extra cannons would come in handy.  And let's hope they've got lots of swag!  Where's the captain? Are you the decent sort, or are you going to rub their face in it for a bit?

3.  Swab the decks:  You're a cabin boy!  It's a good thing you don't mind doing all the dirty work, right?  Anyway, the captain's calling; better see what they want.

4.  Marooned:  For a bit there you'd thought you were in Davy's Jones' grip, but somehow you've washed ashore with the driftwood.  As you stare dazedly up from the surf, you have questions.  Where are you?  And who's that already on the shore?

5.  Buried Treasure:  Sink me! You've really found the mother lode. . . but you're not the only one.  Who gets to take the treasure back to their ship?  Better make sure it's you.

6.  Rum:  Rum, everywhere.

7.  Swordfight:  It's that person you can't stand!  And they've taken your most valuable possession, that one of a kind thing you just can't live without!  Better get that trinket back before it and your nemesis are gone over the side forever.  Let's hear some swashes buckling.

8.  Mutiny:  The tack is full of maggots and this drinking water may as well have come from the gutter.  There's one person to blame for this, and you're here to make especially sure that they pay for it.  The captain does always seem to take the best treasure before everybody else.

9.  Kidnapping:  Don't they look rather peaceful, innocent even, sleeping so soundly there with their fancy nightclothes and pillows.  Brings a tear to your eye, it does.  Better take them aboard and send for a ransom.

10.  Take a Gamble:  Gotta spend your loot somehow, but it must have been the rum that had you bettin' everything at once!  You've lost to your hornswagglin' shipmate; what did you lose, and what will they make you do now?

11. Under the Sea:  You are now a Mermaid/Merman!  That sailor over there sure looks appealing; let's see if you can lure them in with your charms.  Don't forget that they can't breathe under water!  You do seem to always forget, don't you. . .

12.  Enemy from the Deep:  What was that?  Did you feel that?  An unseen enemy is about to take this ship swiftly to the bottom of the ocean.  Giant squid, enormous whales, sea serpents . . . hope you make it.

13.  The Doldrums:  Can you say cabin fever?  The sails haven't moved in weeks.  You're about seeing if your mates can relieve this awful boredom.  And hopefully find some food and water.  Don't squabble over it, now.

14.  The Brig:  Something you did has gotten you imprisoned in the very depths of this ship.  How long until you see your next meal?  When you see who put you here again, you'll make them pay.  Hold on, maybe there's someone else here too.

OR

Make up your own!  Arrrrr!

[ The Styx is meant to be a fortress among pirate vessels, so it comes as rather a surprise when they're ambushed and boarded. And even more of one when it's not the Morrigan that did it. To spare her crew of girls, Meisai cheerfully surrenders and pays her own parole. After all, what prison can hold an improvised fighter?

The reason for it not being the Morrigan is made apparent when Meisai is summarily shown into her new quarters in the navy brig, and that infamous ship's equally infamous captain is already there.

Well. She's in significantly better humour as she settles on the damp floor than she was up on deck. ]

If it isn't the hunter boy! Would you like the good news first, or the bad?

[Shay looks up as she enters from where he's chained in one corner of the cell. It's obvious he's been imprisoned there at least a few days -- he looks disheveled, and has the beginning of a beard beginning to grow in. There's dried blood on his clothes, and his wrists are shackled together and bound by a chain to the wall.

Probably to stop him attacking any fellow prisoners as much as those keeping him prisoner. He can see why now, given they're throwing him in with Meisai of all people.]

You! [He'll have to settle for a threatening glare for now, since he's otherwise unable to move far.]

Get the bad news over with, why don't you. You'll rub it in my face either way.

[He hasn't physically laid eyes on Davy Jones since Teague and the members of the previous Court present in Shipwreck Cove at the time had summoned him onto the deck of Teague's ship, to get to the bottom of the sinking of Hector's long lost ship, Cobra. He'd wanted to ask, at the time, if Jones had made deals with the dead and dying of Hector's own crew, the day the Cobra slipped beneath the surface of the sea, taking his beloved little Polly with it, but at the time things had happened so fast, and Jones had been and gone before he'd gotten the chance.

Something that's nearly twenty years in the past, and he can faithfully say that Jones's appearance is no less grotesque with the passage of that time. Not frightening, of course. Especially not now, that he's done time as his own version of something that goes bump in the night (and thankful he is, the curse is broken, while he stands here with his bad knee throbbing like a son of a bitch where he's locked it). But skeletons and Jones are two separate things.

The deck of the Pearl is empty, and Hector himself has just returned from the disastrous meeting that has seen Elizabeth Swann elected Pirate King, his blood still up with the slight sting of betrayal at Jack's completely unpredictable move. He shouldn't be surprised. Not by Jack, not by Elizabeth turning up with a Piece of Eight (he'd bartered her onto Sao Feng's ship, after all), and perhaps...Not Jones, either.

They're probably all going to die, come dawn. He knows that. And he knows there's no regret like a risk not taken, as he loosens the lock of his knee to stroll casually across the deck in the direction of his quarters.]

Aye, and to what do I owe the pleasure- [His tone suggests it's anything but.] Of Beckett's lapdog paying a visit to me ship, then.

[ The benefit of being a pirate legendary for carrying no weapons of her own is that most of her opponents assume her strength lies in her crew. Which is, frankly, adorable, but she'll take the hit to her pride if it means they don't shackle her like they have Shay. Her smirk is wolfish as she makes a show of stretching. ]

The bad news... It looks like the intelligence I sent to the navy regarding your double-crossing was rather more effective that anticipated. Honestly, if I'd known you'd get yourself caught so soon, I would have smuggled a bottle or two so we could toast your humiliation together.
morrioghain: (so says voluspa:)

[personal profile] morrioghain 2015-02-19 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
It was you?!

[He jumps to his feet as if wanting to strike her, but the chains hold fast, preventing him from getting any closer. So he'll settle for just looking incredibly irate instead.]

I should have guessed. But I imagine you don't feel so clever now, going getting yourself caught, do you?

[ That's almost worth a toast in and of itself. She looks up at him through half-lidded eyes, too calm by half and clearly enjoying his reaction. ]

That would be the good news. But yes, it was me. The bribes cost me quite a bit, too, but sitting here now, I can say they were worth every penny.
morrioghain: (there the gods must give judgement)

[personal profile] morrioghain 2015-02-19 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[And there's the gloating he was waiting for.] See how much you think it was worth it when you're lead up to the gallows or tossed into a gibbet to rot, you bloody sea witch.

[He sits back down, disgruntled but trying to get his temper under check. There's no point in making this more enjoyable for her than it already is.]

[Truthfully, Lia has never really liked sailing. It's efficient. But you have access to so little luggage and only a few days in, she feels she has read every book taken with her and the ship becomes even smaller than it was when they left harbor.]

The next time, monsieur, I believe I shall choose our holiday.

[Diplomatic mission. Whatever.]
belaying: (» ᴡᴇʟʟ sᴡɪɴɢ ᴀ ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ᴍᴏʀᴇ)

Liabb, you deserve better. Or worse. I'm not sure which.

[personal profile] belaying 2015-02-19 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
[She says diplomatic mission. He says scouting for the ship he's been tracking near two months. Whatever helps her sleep at night.

But her words trigger a deep, internal sigh, a closing of his eyes as he lowers his spyglass, and the eyeroll that goes unseen behind his closed lids, because this has been one of his worse ideas. See? He freely admits it. This ship is, in fact, no place for the likes of her, and yet...Here she is, anyway. Because he's an idiot, clearly. He's an idiot, and he's glad the likes of Jack Sparrow can't see him at the moment.

He collapses the spyglass with perhaps more force than is required, before opening his eyes and squinting out at the horizon, the sun ridiculously bright on the water. They're only a few days out, with several more stretching before them before land is sighted again, and if the crew doesn't mutiny on him for this, he might mutiny himself.]

It's been nigh three days. Surely your delicate sensibilities aren't finding themselves shattered just yet. [Three days is nothing. Wait until it's three months.] The wind is with us, we're making damned good time, and no sign of a storm on the horizon, so just what, then. [Here he finally glances over his shoulder at her.] Possibly is determined to punish me with your ill humor.
psalmed: (boat)

[personal profile] psalmed 2015-02-19 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
My delicate sensibilities?

[The tone of her voice suggests she has none of those. She's been on a ship far longer than this. The first days are the hardest before she adjusts, before she remembers life is an adventure and she would be a soft thing indeed if she stayed in her home, or at Court.

Also, she's wearing trousers today, so she's feeling like she might be able to swim if she pushes it and Hector throws her overboard.]

I was only suggesting, mon cher, that a holiday would do us both good. Perhaps, Spain. England.

[Not that England is known for the nice weather but there are connections there and either place is better than indefinite seadom.]

What god would punish you with an ill humor and an ill wife?
